We spoke with S\u00e9bastien Fournier, co-founder of Synerpod, to understand his vision, his journey, and the ambitions of a project resolutely focused on the future.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your career path?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier:<\/strong> My name is S\u00e9bastien Fournier, I am 54 years old, and I am a father of two children. It was partly for them that I embarked on entrepreneurship, on the eve of my 50th birthday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\">After more than 20 years in the construction sector, particularly in off-site and prefabrication, I felt the need to re-evaluate my path. My career as an employee ended after my company was acquired by a large group, where I did not find my place. I then took the time to travel, notably to England and the Netherlands, to observe other ways of building. These experiences were decisive: I discovered much more industrialized and innovative approaches there. In parallel, I met with players from other sectors \u2014 naval, automotive, RVs \u2014 to understand their methods. This forged a strong conviction: we will not transform the building industry solely with building industry players.     <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>How was Synerpod founded?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>Synerpod was born from this desire for disruption. Initially, I was alone, with just a phone. Then, through various encounters, five of us, from very different backgrounds, partnered up. We took the time to define a common vision: to focus exclusively on housing, offer low-carbon solutions, design energy-efficient homes, and, above all, make them financially accessible for their occupants.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\">Our main indicator is very simple: resident satisfaction. If the person living in the home is satisfied, then everything else follows. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>What is your approach to transforming the construction sector?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>Our approach is based on two fundamental pillars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\">First, industrializing construction. We want to shift value from the construction site to the factory. Today, too much is still done on-site, with a &#8220;we&#8217;ll figure it out on the spot&#8221; mentality. This model no longer works. We develop standardized industrial components, which are then assembled on-site. This allows us to gain in quality, time, and performance.     <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\">Second, working cooperatively. We are not just talking about collaboration, but true cooperation. This means opening up our ways of working with our partners: pooling transport, sharing resources, and thinking collectively. It&#8217;s a profound cultural change.   <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>Specifically, what solutions does Synerpod offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>Our flagship product is the <strong>energy pod<\/strong>, a technical module integrated into the dwelling. It combines several essential functions: heating, hot water, cooling, and air quality. It&#8217;s a standardized yet customizable system, much like a car: the &#8220;chassis&#8221; is common, but the trim and options vary. Today, we have already completed over 300 installations. We are also developing other solutions, such as prefabricated components (partitions, facades, technical equipment), connected modules for real-time monitoring, and soon a new product called <strong>Home+<\/strong>, a multifunctional housing extension.    <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>You also integrate a lot of digital technology into your solutions. What is its role? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>Digital technology is central to our approach. Each installation is equipped with a connected system that allows us to monitor the dwelling&#8217;s operation in real time. We collect data to detect anomalies, anticipate breakdowns, and improve residents&#8217; comfort. Today, over 60% of requests are handled remotely (user coaching), 25% via parameterization, and physical interventions are rare&#8230; and without entering the dwelling.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\">We even go further with artificial intelligence, which allows us to anticipate discomforts before residents even feel them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>Your model also seems very human-centered. Is this intentional? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>Absolutely. We talk a lot about technology, but for us, the real transformation is primarily human. We rely on simple principles, inspired by the &#8220;Four Agreements&#8221; of Toltec wisdom: clear communication, not making assumptions, not taking things personally, and always doing our best. We also value a solution-oriented culture: we don&#8217;t look for culprits, but for answers. This is essential for moving forward quickly and effectively. Furthermore, our model also promotes social integration, working with people in career transition, and increasing the representation of women in the sector.     <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>What are your main markets today?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>We have identified four main segments: social landlords, co-ownerships, senior villages, and individuals. In the latter segment, we work with partners like Leroy Merlin, with an innovative approach: renovating at the neighborhood level rather than individually. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>Why did you join the Smart Power network?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>It&#8217;s primarily a matter of timing&#8230; and encounters. We were convinced by the quality of the ecosystem, the networking opportunities, and the support offered, particularly for projects and funding. Above all, we expect exchanges, meetings, and synergies with other stakeholders.  <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>To conclude, what can we wish you for the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ce505d1202e312f230c7191ee52a0a03\"><strong>S\u00e9bastien Fournier: <\/strong>That the adventure continues&#8230; and above all, that it remains human. From the beginning, we built Synerpod around human connections. In fact, at the very start, we even organized beer brewing workshops to build relationships!
